It all began with this little oven, chugging away in Johnnie's very own back yard, in Hackney.
This is where we honed our craft on all our friends and family with our weekly supper clubs. As word spread and more and more people got to try out unique stone baked pizza, we knew we were onto something a bit special.
Feeling that there was a lack of good quality takeaway pizza in town we decided to set up shop in Clapton in May 2014. Fortunately for us, It instantly proved a hit with locals and pizza aficionados alike.
Our launch party saw The Pizza Underground band, featuring Macaulay Culkin, playing an unannounced UK debut in our kitchen, to an intimate audience of 25. Quite a surreal experience, with everyone singing along to the likes of ‘Take a Bite of the Wild Slice’!
Since then, we’ve come on leaps and bounds, having been featured with kind reviews in the likes of Time Out, The Telegraph, Clash, Buzzfeed, Shortlist, Evening Standard and The Hackney Gazette. In 2015, we were nominated and voted for by the public as Hackney’s best restaurant in the Time Out Love London Awards.
We’ve made some great friends along the way, and none more so than the the people we’ve teamed up with on a number of occasions for our informal collaboration series of ‘Love-in’s’.
In June 2016 we opened the doors to our second home on Blackstock Road, in Finsbury Park, bringing our unique stone-baked goodness to all those North-Londoners.
'WE FINNALLY GOT A YARD!!'
Yep, that's right, our third shop in Walthamstow opened in early 2017 with its very own shiny yard, situated in front of a beautiful old glass factory, where the restaurant is housed. Seating up to 30 people inside, and 20 people outside, Walthamstow is our biggest shop yet, and has gone down a storm with the good folk of E17.
